š§ Letās clear up some common misconceptions about OCD. So often, people throw around the term āOCDā casually, using it to describe someone whoās just neat or particular. But OCD is a serious mental health condition, not an adjective. Thereās also a lot of misunderstanding about how OCD presents and what differentiates OCD from normal childhood behavior. Many toddlers and young children have strong preferences for things being a certain way, like how their toys are lined up, or how their food is served (raise your hand if youāre child has had a tantrum because you peeled their banana for themšš½āāļø). In this weekās PedsDocTalk Podcast episodeš, I invited Michelle Massi, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, from @anxietytherapyla, to discuss OCD and dispel some of these misconceptions. We take a dive deep into what OCD *actually* looks like, including key features, signs to watch for (especially in kids), and effective strategies to manage it. Whether youāre looking for clarity or ways to support someone, this episode is for you! To give it a listen and get a link to the episode sent directly to your DMs, comment or DM me āPODCAST LINKā. Do you or a loved one have OCD? Or have you ever worried your child may be showing signs of it?
