Save this post for the winter cold season! I shared this recipe before, and the PedsDocTalk community loved it so sharing it again for those who missed it. Itās my go-to for myself and my kids (once they turned one) when weāre feeling under the weather. Warm up with a comforting cup of Turmeric Milk (aka Golden Milk) š! Rooted deeply in Indian culture and Ayurvedic medicine, this spicy-sweet concoction is my trusted home remedy whenever cold season strikes. As a pediatrician and a mom, I swear by its soothing properties and its ability to tackle inflammation and mucous. š„⨠Recipe: For the record: I make everything to taste so measurements may vary 1ļøā£ Heat one cup of 2% or whole cowās milk (or plant-based alternative with similar fat content) till it simmers. 2ļøā£ Reduce heat and stir in: 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp ground turmeric (or fresh grated) 1/8 tsp black pepper (a couple of grinds work too) 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (to your taste) Shredded ginger (optional) 3ļøā£ Remove from flame and sweeten with 1/2-1 tsp of honey and stiršÆ. Feel free to adjust the recipe to your taste. Pour, sip, and revel in its warmth. If serving to kids, ensure itās cooled and use a straw for added fun! I drink it at the first sign of feeling under the weather or have a sore throat until Iām feeling better and do the same for the kids. šØBe sure to check out the comment section for some important safety tipsā¼ļø For more ways to be prepped at home for illness or injury, comment or DM me āMEDICINE GUIDEā and Iāll send you a link to my FREE PDF that covers the best meds and health products to always have at home so youāre not scrambling when sickness hits.
