Save this post for the winter cold season! I shared this recipe before, and the PedsDocTalk community loved it so sharing it again for those who missed it. It’s my go-to for myself and my kids (once they turned one) when we’re feeling under the weather. Warm up with a comforting cup of Turmeric Milk (aka Golden Milk) 🌟! Rooted deeply in Indian culture and Ayurvedic medicine, this spicy-sweet concoction is my trusted home remedy whenever cold season strikes. As a pediatrician and a mom, I swear by its soothing properties and its ability to tackle inflammation and mucous. 🥛✨ Recipe: For the record: I make everything to taste so measurements may vary 1️⃣ Heat one cup of 2% or whole cow’s milk (or plant-based alternative with similar fat content) till it simmers. 2️⃣ Reduce heat and stir in: 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp ground turmeric (or fresh grated) 1/8 tsp black pepper (a couple of grinds work too) 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (to your taste) Shredded ginger (optional) 3️⃣ Remove from flame and sweeten with 1/2-1 tsp of honey and stir🍯. Feel free to adjust the recipe to your taste. Pour, sip, and revel in its warmth. If serving to kids, ensure it’s cooled and use a straw for added fun! I drink it at the first sign of feeling under the weather or have a sore throat until I’m feeling better and do the same for the kids. 🚨Be sure to check out the comment section for some important safety tips‼️ For more ways to be prepped at home for illness or injury, comment or DM me “MEDICINE GUIDE” and I’ll send you a link to my FREE PDF that covers the best meds and health products to always have at home so you’re not scrambling when sickness hits.
