Many women are completely surprised when I tell them that they have osteopenia or osteoporosis. We don’t even notice our bones most days until we fracture so how can you know that you may be at risk for fracture? Is your mother shrinking? Are you shrinking? Have you broken a bone since the age of 20? Did you consistently vape or smoke in your lifetime? Have you had an illness such as asthma requiring high dose steroids? Do you drink more than two glasses of alcohol a day? When you were a young girl, did you have long gaps even months or years when you did not have your period All of these can put you at risk for osteoporosis in addition to the real and dangerous risk of losing bone during menopause. . Osteoporosis and fracture are not only preventable, but treatable if we recognize the risks and take solid action. . Let’s live UNBREAKABLE. BUILD BETTER BONE. . @menoscandal @theagingproject @sohot.rightnow #bone #menopause #women #midlife #muscle #longevity #ilooklikeasurgeon #perimenopause
