Recently, ophthalmologists started using a surgical technique called corneal neurotization to treat patients with advanced stages of this rare eye disorder called neurotrophic keratitis. This video shows how they harvest a healthy infraorbital nerve to return nerve function to a desensitized cornea. Studies show this technique leads to improved corneal sensation, improved visual acuity, and a reduction in symptoms for months to years after surgery.
