Yeeeeaahhh.. nursing school was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Here are some tips when it comes to answering multiple choice test questions Please please please read the question slowly and in its entirety.. a lot of the time, the reason for getting a question wrong is because you didn’t fully read the question - I’ve been there and you honestly just want to slap yourself Along with that - read the answers entirely. One small word can make a huge difference If 2 options are the opposite of each other... 1 of those is probably the correct answer If 2 options are similar to each other/essentially saying the same thing... Neither of them are probably the answer If all 4 options seem like they’re all saying the same thing... Try to find one option that’s an “umbrella option” - basically covers all answers in one Options that include “absolute terms” like never, always, must, every, none, etc. usually aren’t correct Always assess the patient first - calling the doctor right away usually isnt the best first step Question involves prioritization? Think airway, breathing, circulation, safety, and nursing process (ADPIE) Nursing tests/NCLEX are NOT like real-world-nursing… don’t choose an option solely based on your experience in clincials Eliminate wrong answers - you increase your chances of selecting the correct answer by 25% every time you do so!
