This really resonated in stories and putting this in feed ➡️Our bodies change after having babies. ➡️Our bodies change with age (regardless if you birthed a child). And working out and eating balanced is important. But focusing on numbers on a scale is NOT THE GOAL. Six pack Abs are NOT THE GOAL. Consistency, showing up, the process, and how working out makes you feel IS THE GOAL. There was a time in my life I used to be a size 2. That day may never come again. But I have carried two children and have had five abdominal surgeries. My body is not meant to be the same. Organs have shifted and surgeries have meant tons of scar tissue. I have been consistently working out 4 times a week since January. Prior to that; I was BELOW my pre-pregnancy weight, but I was weak. I wasn’t strong. I could barely hold a plank and my pelvic floor strength was shot. Since then, I’m 15 pounds heavier and that’s because of muscle mass. And I’m the strongest I’ve ever felt since having my first child. Numbers on scales DO NOT tell us the whole picture. Someone’s jiggly belly (like mine) doesn’t tell us the whole picture. This goes for our kids too. We have to focus on health and not metrics not only when it comes to our bodies but in all aspects of our life. Workout and eat balanced because it’s good for our bodies. Not because you’re chasing a number. If we want to raise children with a healthy body image; it’s time we have a healthy relationship with our bodies too.
