🗣️ Little Ears Are Always Listening 👂💕 The way we talk about our own bodies—and the bodies of others—can shape how kids see themselves. 💭 Words matter, and kids pick up on everything! Holidays can be tough for those with body image struggles. The focus on food, comments about eating or appearance, and pressure to look a certain way for gatherings or photos can be overwhelming. Add in unsolicited remarks from family or friends, and it’s a lot to navigate. I am on a mission to change the narrative and raise kids with a healthy body image and a healthy relationship with food and I know many of you want the same. From avoiding food shaming to celebrating all bodies, here’s how to model healthy attitudes: ✨ Show love for your own body—kids are always watching! ✨ Focus on food as fuel and joy, not guilt. ✨ Praise your child’s character instead of focusing on their appearance. ✨ Respect their hunger and fullness cues. ✨ Speak kindly about others (and yourself!) because every body is beautiful. The way we talk about food and bodies shapes how our kids see themselves—and the world. 🌎🍎 When we label food as ‘good’ or ‘bad,’ we risk teaching them shame instead of balance. Every food has a function and a place—whether it’s fueling their bodies, bringing joy, or connecting us through shared meals. When we focus on the appearance of one’s body, we forget our bodies are incredible for what they can do for us. Let’s focus on what our amazing bodies can do and teach our kids to nourish and love themselves from the inside out. Let’s raise a generation of confident, kind kids who feel good in their skin.
