How do completely blind athletes long jump? Check out what this long jumper, Di Dongdong is able to accomplish. He shattered the world record and clinched a gold medal. He’s competing in the T11 class which is for runners with near-total visual impairment. All competitors wear full blindfolds so that the level of vision is the same for all athletes. Listen to the audio cues his guide gives him as he approaches the takeoff board. To run that fast in the dark, full strength, depending just on the shouts of another, before launching yourself in the air requires courage that is truly remarkable. This is why I tell parents to not put limits on their kids when they are faced with a severe vision diagnosis. Anything is possible! #longjump #paralympics2024 #ophthlamology #eyedoctor #inspirationalstories
