As a cardiologist, I obviously get asked a lot about diet and exercise for heart health. While most cardiologists tend to focus on diet, I also focus on exercise in conversations with my patients. While aerobic exercise is very important for heart health, weight lifting and weight-bearing activities are extremely important for bone 🦴 health and your muscles 💪🏻 as well. We recommend weight-bearing exercises to everyone to help increase their bone density. Furthermore, strong muscles help to mitigate the risk of injuries. A lot of weight-bearing exercises will also have an aerobic component to it especially when lifting weights over your head. Heart rates typically elevate with good weight-bearing activity. I typically recommend high intensity interval training to my patients who can exercise without many restrictions. High intensity interval training increases lean muscle mass and is an aerobic workout as well. HIIT training helps to speed up fat loss as well! #queenofhearts #cardiology #cardiologist #weightlifting #nutrition #preventivemedicine #medicine #weightloss #hiit #womeninmedicine #strengthtraining #prevention #health #healthy #dieting #doctor #healthtips #exercise #listentome #ftlauderdale #5stardoc #workouts #cardio #gym #homeworkout #womenwholift #hearthealth
